Two videos showing grocery store shoppers licking a tub of Blue Bell ice cream and putting it back on the shelf turned the stomachs of the nation last week and inspired one Texas police department to take matters into their own hands.
On Friday, the Keller Police Department shared a photo on Facebook (below) of two of its officers standing guard over the ice cream section of a local Tom Thumb supermarket.
“The only Blue Bell Ice Cream being licked here in Keller this holiday weekend will be the kind you’ve already purchased,” the Keller Public Safety department wrote alongside the now-viral snap. “Cpl. Clark and Officer Bryans are seeing to that. #NotOnOurWatch.”
A similar photo (below) of a security guard armed with a green squirt gun patrolling the ice cream section of a Corpus Christi Walmart on the Fourth of July also made the rounds on social media.

While it may seem like a harmless prank, tampering with a consumer product is a second-degree felony charge in Texas and comes with a two- to 20-year prison term and up to $10,000 in fines.
